DANIEL SÆTHER er utdannet kontratenor ved Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (2005–2010) og det Kongeli- ge Akademi i Haag (2010–2011). Han har siden 2011 virket som kontratenor i inn- og utland med konserter i blant annet Sverige, Italia, Spania, England, Vietnam og Brasil med et bredt repertoar fra tidligmusikk til samtidsmusikk. I Norge er han mye brukt som solist og ensemblesanger, både i konsertsammenheng og opera.
I 2007 hadde han sin debut ved Den Norske Opera & Ballett som evangelist i operaen El Niño av John Adams, påskekonsert på hovedscenen i 2014 og Nattens dron- ning på scene 2 i barneoperaen Opera på timeplanen. Han har sunget på Oslo Internasjonale Kirkemusikkfes- tival, Festspillene i Bergen, Glogerfestspillene og i en rekke andre konsertsammenhenger i Norge. Han har vært med på å etablere Ensemble Freithoff og Chris- tian IV Consort som har en omfattende kammermusi- kalsk konsertvirksomhet i Norge med hovedfokus på renessanse- og barokkmusikk. I perioden 2018–2020 ble han tildelt Statens arbeidsstipend for å jobbe med sam- tidsmusikk og dokumentere dette i konsert og innspilling.
Daniel har høsten 2019 også vært engasjert som sanger på Nationaltheatret i produksjonen av forestillingen Forel- ska i Shakespeare basert på filmen Shakespeare in Love.
Countertenor DANIEL SÆTHER studied at Royal Bir- mingham Conservatoire (2005–2010) and the Royal Academy in Den Haag (2010–2011). He has performed as a countertenor in Norway and abroad since 2011, including concerts in Sweden, Italy, Spain, England, Vietnam and Brazil, and a wide-ranging repertoire from early music to contemporary. In Norway he often appears as soloist and ensemble singer, both in concert settings and opera.
In 2007 Sæther made his debut at the Norwegian Nation- al Opera and Ballet as the evangelist in the opera El Niño by John Adams. He also sang an Easter concert on the main stage in 2014 and Queen of the Night on the Second Stage in the children’s opera Opera på timeplanen. He has sung at the Oslo International Church Music Festival, the Bergen International Festival, the Gloger Festival in Kongsberg, and at a number of other Norwegian concert venues. He is a founding member of Ensemble Freithoff and Christian IV Consort, both of which perform chamber music in Norway with a focus on Renaissance and Ba- roque music. As the recipient of Statens Arbeidsstipend, a government grant, from 2018-2020, he worked with contemporary music and documented the experience in concerts and recordings.
In the autumn of 2019 Sæther also had a singing engage- ment at the National Theatre in its production of Forelska i Shakespeare, based on the film Shakespeare in Love.
